Tissot Chrono XL Classic Tour De France Edition

The Tour de France is easily the world’s greatest cycling races. It’s one of the longest, with a total of 3,351km being cycled by some of the world’s best cyclists from Noimoutier-en-I’Île all the way to the infamous stretch of pavement known as the Champs-Élysées in Paris. And to celebrate this momentous sporting event, Tissot have released the limited-edition Chrono XL Classic Tour De France Edition, a must have for any Tour de France fan.At 45mm in diameter, the Chrono XL Classic Tour De France Edition’s smooth matte stainless-steel case is anything but small. And while you may be hesitant in pulling the trigger secondary to its larger size, rest assured that Tissot have exercised restraint on the case’s dimensions and ensured a slim look, with the overall depth of the piece sitting at a little over 11mm.The dial is large and spacious, with ample real estate between all the functions, promoting legibility and ease of use. The contemporary Arabic numerals, minute markers and hands have all been treated to the same vibrant pop of yellow, again improving legibility even in poorly lit environments. The addition of a chronograph complication and the date window at 6 o’clock adds to the Chrono XL Classic Tour De France Edition’s level of usability and functionality, both as a daily wearer and as a piece you can wear while being active. The Chrono XL Classic Tour De France Edition is powered by the ETA Fashioline Chronograph, or the ETA G10.212. This is a Quartz-powered mechanism, featuring the passing hours, minutes and seconds, as well as a 12-hour chronograph and a date indicator. Of course, I’d be much happier had Tissot utilised even a no-frills ébauche mechanical chronograph movement, but with that being said the pricing of the Tissot Chrono XL Classic Tour De France Edition definitely reflects the use of a battery-powered mechanism. The closed caseback features the Tour de France insignia which is actually pretty cool. The Tissot Chrono XL Classic Tour De France Edition is a fitting tribute to the Tour de France 2018 and costs $350.For more information click here.Ratings:Movement: 1/5Aesthetics: 4/5Wearability: 4/5Affordability: 5/5
