Lyn Slater or “Accidental Icon” started a fashion blog in her mid-60s after she noticed there weren’t many mediums for folks with typical lives to go to for fashion advice. So the Fordham University instructor got to work and “accidentally” developed her own following. And for good reason, her aesthetic is AMAZING! Sometimes fame takes a little longer to get to you. But that doesn’t make the moment any less sweet.

You don’t get to pick and choose, to accept the parts of my body, that do or don’t turn your stomach sour. . 📸: @underneath_we_are_women . You like a wide ass, but not my thick thighs to carry it. You like my breasts, but not the stomach underneath it. You like my full lips, but not my strong opinions. You like the arch of my back, but not the societal weight I carry. . My body and mind aren’t dividable. All the parts that make me, the person I am today, are cumulative. They are layers of work, time, abuse, self-awareness, body image issues, self-love, and insecurity. Each a lesson… ever growing always. . My penis isn’t optional. It doesn’t detach. I will never be a cisgender woman. My cellulite takes up space. It’s not picky. I will never be fit. My thighs are discolored, my belly hangs, I’m moody. Oh well! Guess what? All still a part of what makes me, me. . I will not lessen my strength, to balance your inadequacy. I will not feel insecure, to validate your power. I will love you how you need me to love, but will you return it? Or will you love me, how you want to love me, irregardless of how I feel? . When we love, we must account for the people we are falling for. We must love them in their language, not our own. We don’t get to play with people’s feelings, when we have no idea what we truly want. We have to take people as they are, in the moment, not how they could be. Not how we want them to be… Not how we change them. . Sometimes it’s not meant to be: Sometimes it doesn’t work out. Sometimes we can’t get over our personal discomfort. Sometimes we must choose ourselves over being vulnerable. You should want to be cherished. You should want to be loved, for all of you… not just what’s seen as desirable. . Desire is selective. It is raw… I desire… I desire to choose myself always. For I am the only person, who will take care of the “my’s” during my limited time in this world. . My body, my mind, my life, my rules. . #plusmodel #selflove #transgender #trans #fat #femme #nude #body #gender #diversity #acceptance #vunerability #writer #writersofinstagram #fatgirl #girlslikeus #bodypositive #selfawareness #bopo #mybody #myrules #bodyimage #plussize

Being a business owner is not for the faint of heart. This morning, I cried in my office bathroom trying not to let anyone see me as anything less than perfectly ok. I love having a business but sometimes the big responsibility, the big decisions, the big juggle…it just gets hard some days. Some days I feel like I’m on top of the world and dancing in a pool of confetti, and some days I feel like I have no idea what I’m doing. If you’re a fellow entrepreneur having one those bad days along with all the good days, know that you are not alone. We ALL go through it. The passion for your work and the end result IS all so worth the blood, sweat, and even the tears (in your office bathroom). / 📷 @the_confetti_project

Today is the last Saturday of 2018. The last weekend of the year. People like to joke about weight loss New Years resolutions, and say they never stick etc. That may be true SOMETIMES .. but it doesn’t have to be. January 1st of this year I set a New Years resolution to “lose 40 pounds by the summer” and well .. 120 pounds later haven’t looked back. ⁣ If you are making a similar New Years resolution in the next few days and want to avoid another failed attempt my tips would be this: ⁣ 🔸Write down your goals⁣ 🔸Speak them in to existence starting today ⁣ 🔸Tell AT LEAST one person these goals (the more people the better) ⁣ 🔸Have a few short term goals and one overall long term goal⁣ 🔸And write down your methods (HOW you are going to achieve these goals)⁣ ⁣ I achieved these results with the @21daymealplan, 12 months of hard work and commitment (only 2 of which were spent in an actual gym). Throw out your excuses and make a plan .. you WILL thank yourself later 💕🙌🏾

Body positivity is important, still, some women choose to make lifestyle changes that promote weight loss. Since then, she’s consistently motivated people all over the world by being #fitness and #relationship goals.

This year was so amazing work-wise that is really hard for me to choose only 9 moments. These ones are not the most-liked posts but the projects I’ve loved the most to work on in 2018. Huge thanks to all the clients who trusted on my work and gave me an opportunity to create these pieces. Also, thanks to everyone who support me and my work – you guys are really important! I hope 2019 can bring even more opportunities to work on nice projects and that I can continue using my work as an instrument of resistance through this sick world. ✊️💖⭐️ . . #bestnine #illustration
